An app was removed from the Shopify App Store. Why is it still charging me? Delisting takes an app off the Shopify App Store and blocks new installs, but it doesn't uninstall the app from your store. Even when Shopify removes an app for breaking its rules, merchants who have it installed can keep using it until the removal date, so a subscription you approved keeps billing on its 30-day cycle while the app stays installed. To stop the charge, uninstall the app from Settings > Apps, and cancel with the developer as well if they bill you outside Shopify.

Install on the Shopify App StoreThis one catches people out because the App Store and your store are two separate places. When an app comes off the App Store, it stays installed on your store. It's still under Settings > Apps and still on your bill. If you already uninstalled the app and the charge kept coming, that's a different problem, and still charged after uninstalling a Shopify app covers it.
Why delisting doesn't stop the bill
The charge is tied to the install on your store. Apps listed on the Shopify App Store have to bill through a Shopify billing solution (Shopify Dev Docs, About billing for your app), and app subscriptions run on their own 30-day cycle that lands on your Shopify bill (App charges on your Shopify bills). Shopify describes delisting as removing the app from the App Store and blocking new installs. Removing the app from your store is a separate step (Enforcement of Shopify's Partner Program Policies).
If Shopify does remove an app for good, it says it typically gives merchants with the app on live stores at least 30 days' notice, and on the removal date it uninstalls the app for anyone who hasn't done it already. Serious violations can mean a shorter notice period. Until one of you uninstalls it, the subscription keeps running.
Find out if a delisted app is on your bill
- Run your store address through the free delisted app checker. It looks at the apps loading on your storefront and opens each one's App Store page to see what it says today.
- Apps that run only in your admin, checkout or billing won't show up there. For those, go to Settings > Billing, click View current charges, and look through Past bills. Open each app's App Store listing. A delisted one says "This app is not currently available on the Shopify App Store."
- Some apps bill you outside Shopify, so they never appear on the Shopify bill. Check your card statement for those. What your Shopify bill does not show has the details.
AppTrim reads your Shopify billing invoice, lists every app charge, and flags apps that do the same job. Use it to spot tools you no longer need and apps still billing after you uninstalled them. It won't tell you which apps were delisted, but it does give you the full list of app charges to check.

First decide whether you still need the app. If you rely on it, ask the developer what's going on before you remove anything. Delisting blocks new installs, so plan as if you can't put the app back once it's gone. Can I keep using a delisted app? goes through that decision. If you're done with it:
- Export any data you need. Shopify warns that some apps store data you can't recover after uninstalling.
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Apps, open the menu next to the app and click Uninstall.
- Some apps add code to your theme that isn't removed automatically when you uninstall. Check the app's docs or ask the developer whether there are extra steps.
- If the developer bills you outside Shopify, cancel with them directly. Uninstalling doesn't touch that.
- Check your next Shopify bill and make sure the line is gone.

What uninstalling does and doesn't cover
Uninstalling stops future Shopify billing for the app. A charge already generated for the current cycle, and any usage fees you ran up before uninstalling, can still appear on your next invoice. If the vendor bills you directly, cancel with them. If the line comes back after that, send the developer your uninstall date and the invoice line, then contact Shopify support.
Want a refund for a charge you didn't mean to pay? Shopify's Help Center says to contact the app developer, whether the charge is still pending or already paid (App charges on your Shopify bills).
Quick FAQ
An app was removed from the Shopify App Store. Why is it still charging me?
Delisting takes an app off the Shopify App Store and blocks new installs, but it doesn't uninstall the app from your store. Even when Shopify removes an app for breaking its rules, merchants who have it installed can keep using it until the removal date, so a subscription you approved keeps billing on its 30-day cycle while the app stays installed. To stop the charge, uninstall the app from Settings > Apps, and cancel with the developer as well if they bill you outside Shopify.
Will uninstalling a delisted app stop the charge?
Uninstalling stops future Shopify billing for the app. A charge already generated for the current cycle, and any usage fees you ran up before uninstalling, can still appear on your next invoice. If the vendor bills you directly, cancel with them. If the line comes back after that, send the developer your uninstall date and the invoice line, then contact Shopify support.
Does Shopify cancel a delisted app's subscription for me?
Not when it delists the app. If Shopify removes an app for breaking its rules, merchants can keep using it until the removal date, and Shopify uninstalls it for anyone who hasn't by then. Until the app is uninstalled, by you or by Shopify, the subscription keeps running.
Can I get a refund for a delisted app's charge?
Shopify's Help Center says to contact the app developer to request a refund, whether the app charge is still pending or already paid.
Will AppTrim tell me which apps on my bill were delisted?
No. AppTrim reads your Shopify billing invoice, lists every app charge, and flags apps that do the same job. It doesn't check App Store status, so use the delisted app checker or each app's App Store listing for that.
